Grass Valley have now made their HQ and HQX codecs freeware, together with their very versatile AVDHD2HQ converter utility. One of the major advantages of using an intermediate format like Grass Valley HQX - or Cineform HD - is that it is much easier to deal with on older PCs.Ĭonverting HD footage to HQX or Cineform gives you an intraframe format which makes editing HD much more like editing DV footage in the 'old days' !
